Bandemonium Presented by The Boston Herald and the Music Drives Us Foundation
Bandemonium A School Musical Competition
March 16, 2011
If you like "American Idol" or "Glee," then you will want to know all about this great new contest. The Boston Herald and the "Music Drives Us Foundation" are partnering together to present Bandemonium a school musical competition on Bostonherald.com. The grand prizewinner's school will receive a $5,000 grant for their music department, from the Music Drives Us Foundation.
Bandemonium is open to any curriculum-based musical organization; for example, your high school band, high school glee club, or high school orchestra, at any public or private high school in Massachusetts. Complete rules are on The Boston Herald's site.
In a nutshell, using a "glee club" as an example, here's how Bandemonium works:
Your "Glee club" submits a one-minute video of their best performance, along with a 100 word or less essay from the club's factory advisor explaining why the school should receive the grant.
Timeframe for submissions is March 20th – April 15th.
A panel of Herald judges will select 9 groups from all entries, based on talent displayed in the video and the strength of the essay, to participate in Bandmeonium
By submitting the video and essay, the faculty advisor authorizes the Herald to post the group's performance on the Herald website should they make the "cut".
On April 27th, Bandemonium launches on Bostonherald.com with viewers voting for, and commenting on, their favorite performance.
