Peak Performance Hike-a-thon
Cannon Mountain - Kinsman Ridge Trail August 16, 2009

On Sunday, August 16, 2009, the Greater Manchester Federated Republican Women of Manchester, New Hampshire, has joined forces with several organizations to raise awareness and funds for teens and children in care. They are hosting a hike up the famed Cannon Mountain, former home to the historic Old Man of the Mountain and one of the 4,000-Footer mountains in New Hampshire. With the help of MusicDrivesUs.org, funds raised will go to directly benefit teens and children in care. Donors will be given the option for it to be applied towards music programs and equipment through MusicDrivesUs.org, or towards Christmas gifts and other programs provided to teens and children affected by foster care or adoption through local Foster And Adoptive Parent Associations.
You will not hear much about these children due to the confidentiality laws that protect their rights to privacy. But, these children grow into adults and continue to contribute to our society. We walk and work beside these individuals every day without knowing it, or knowing why they see and experience life so differently from the rest of the world. These children may all have been in-care for different lengths of time, and some age out without any resources to sustain them. But, they all share one thing in common. They experienced a controversial life and likely were removed from their biological homes with nothing more than the clothes on their back. They leave everything behind and learn about a whole new world, often devoid of the passions, or the capacity for a passion for life.
This is what we want you to help us give them — an opportunity for a full life, and the knowledge that we do care what happens to them. Help us bring that passion back into their life.
