Our public art project, GuitARTS, was covered by the Watertown Weekly News! In this segment, the Director of Music Drives Us, Jackie, explained our mission and what GuitARTS is all about. The crew also interviewed two of our GuitARTISTS, Dawn Evans Scaltreto and Woody Geissmann.

Stephanie Silvi is from our very own hometown: Norwood, MA! She attended college to study art and received her BFA. Her main interest is in abstract painting, and named her guitar after her cat that recently passed away.

Katrina Jeffries from Taunton, MA is ready to paint her acoustic guitar! Katrina attended Massasoit Community College in Brockton, MA and is a self-taught artist. Music plays a large role in Katrina’s art; it helps her focus and makes her process more immersive. We can’t wait to see Katrina’s final product! Eddie paints original acrylic abstract artwork and has completed three major public art projects in the Boston area. Two of the projects were electrical boxes for the City of Boston & the Boston Art Commission, and the other was an electrical box commissioned by the Natick Center Cultural District. John Plunkett of Lynn, MA stopped by Music Drives Us to pick up his guitar! John is a graduate of the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA where he studied printmaking. John has been playing the drums for about ten years. We can’t wait to see where his music and artistic talents take him as he starts to paint his guitar! Duncan Reid is ready to start painting his guitar! Duncan is a local Norwood artist and music enthusiast. Reid attended Rhode Island School of Design as well as the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. Dawn Evans Scaltreto of Watertown, MA picked up her guitar! We are so excited to see the final product and where her artistic skills take us! As a musician and artist, Dawn was drawn to GuitARTS and our mission. She has previous experience with public art that can be seen throughout Boston Children’s Hospital. Ned Connors from Boston, MA picked up his guitar! Ned is an undergraduate at the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA majoring in illustration. World-renowned artist Thomas Dunlay picked up his guitar! We are so lucky to have Thomas be a part of GuitARTS! Thomas studied art at the Massachusetts College of Art.
