Music Drives Us Celebrates 2026 Maine Grant Recipients in Portland, ME
On Wednesday October 21st, Music Drives Us traveled to Portland, Maine, to celebrate the recipients of our 2026 Maine Public Instrument Drive grant program! Hosted by Casco Bay High School, the event brought together educators, music advocates, and community organizations to recognize the impact of music education across the state.
The celebration featured wonderful performances by the Casco Bay High School Band and Chorus, reminding us all of the power of music to bring people together and enrich our communities.
Through our unique partnership with Luke Merkel and our friends at Maine Public Radio, Music Drives Us awarded $2,500 grants to 10 Maine schools and nonprofits, helping expand access to music education and opportunities for students and community members to experience the joy of making music.
This year's grant recipients are:
RSU 56 School District
Winslow Public Schools
Ellsworth Elementary Middle School
Oak Hill High School
RSU 20
Old Town High School
Auburn Maine School District
Casco Bay High School
Drum Kits 4 Kids & Midcoast Music Academy
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine
It was a pleasure to meet so many passionate educators who are working to keep music alive in their communities. Thank you to Casco Bay principal Priya Natarajan, music teacher Abby Hutchins, and the entire Casco Bay High School team for welcoming us and helping make the celebration so special.
Congratulations to all 10 grant recipients! We're proud to support your work and look forward to seeing the difference these grants make throughout Maine.
