Success Story

To purchase Drums Alive cardio drumming equipment for 30 students in grades 2-6. This supports a cross-curricular program combining elements of music, such as rhythm and beat, with physical activity.

To purchase two FlipForm risers for the music program. This will allow for a variety of seating and standing arrangements for PreK-5th grade music classes, chorus, ukulele, and composition club groups.

To purchase professional recording equipment for the Digital Media Lab, launch a new apprenticeship with a recording studio, and expand the music production program to include two additional middle schools.

To fund a two-week, K-12 artist-in-residence experience with Burlington Taiko (Japanese drumming). The residency will take place during the school day and will conclude with a free evening performance for the community.

To purchase Wenger acoustic shells to improve sound quality at every ensemble performance. This will benefit all students in chorus, band, jazz band, and the annual school musical, enhancing their performance experience.

To upgrade and expand instruments for the school’s successful Rock Lab program. The group performs at school and community events, including the Vermont State Fair, and was a finalist in a statewide competition.

To purchase a PA system and other modern band equipment to improve equitable access for students in grades 5-8. Funding also provides scholarships for students to rent other musical instruments.

To revitalize the K-8 music program by purchasing ukuleles and curricular materials. The grant will also support professional development for teachers and stipends for visiting artists-in-residence.

To modernize daily classroom music materials and resources, some of which are over 20 years old. The funding will also be used to repair existing instruments and purchase necessary replacements for student use.

To support the 7th-12th grade band, which is doubling in size. The grant will purchase a marimba, piccolo, and bass saxophone to increase equitable access to instruments for all participating students.

To purchase a complete K-6 digital music curriculum, student recorders, and music whiteboards. This grant will establish a permanent music program to prepare students for a lifelong appreciation of music.

To purchase 20 steel drums and related materials for 4th-6th grade students. This allows all students to learn an instrument in regular music class and perform in semiannual concerts at school and local community venues.

To purchase ten new microphones and upgrade the theater's lighting system with new fixtures and cables. The goal is to create a professional-standard performing arts space for both the school and the wider community.

To increase equitable access to musical instruments for all students. The funds will be used to replace two drums from the 1960s, repair other instruments, and purchase new ones, including two guitars for the jazz band.

To create an alternative “rock program” for students in grades K-6, with a focus on 5th and 6th graders. The grant will purchase class sets of electronic drums, keyboards, and guitars, providing hands-on experience.

To purchase new wind instruments for the 4th-5th grade band program. This will provide an opportunity for all students to learn an instrument, regardless of their financial situation, and to perform a variety of music.

To fund the Rhythms and Connections Program for PK-8th grade students. This supports a collaboration with a local arts center to host artists from Mali and Mozambique for school-wide workshops and a community performance.
