About the GuitARTISTName: Stephanie Silvi
Hometown: Norwood, MA Guitar Title/Theme: Jackson About the GuitARTThis 5-foot fiberglass electric guitar is full of color and emotion. Dawn is inspired by colors, and this piece is the perfect depiction of that. Her guitar is named after her cat, Jackson, who recently passed away and was an important part of her life. The guitar reminds her of the bright and fun times her and Jackson used to share. The guitar is covered in vibrant stripes and features a glossy finish with drips from paint-pours. Also the guitar has gold leaf accents.

Please tell us a little bit about your background in art? Art school? Mediums used?
I went to college for art and got a BFA. I am mostly interested in abstract painting.
When did you get interested in art?
As a child. I think just about all children are interested in art at some point and I guess for some of us it just sticks with you.
What is your favorite art piece that you created?
It was this giant ball about 48” diameter of leftover masking tape that I used for my paintings. I had all of it hanging in my studio because it was so beautiful. It had 2 different colors of paint on each strip. When I moved out of the studio I took it all and rolled it up. It was so cool looking. There is a picture of me with it somewhere out there. I think it’s in slide format.
What inspires your creativity? Who are your influences?
Art for me is all about the visual. I am not particularly interested in visual art that has much meaning. I leave that for music.
I get inspired by random things. When I see certain colors together, or the way things decay over time. The most beautiful things don’t try to be beautiful.

About the Guitar
What is your inspiration for your guitar design?
My guitar is named after my cat that recently passed away. He was my favorite dance partner. He would let me, or tolerate me holding him while we danced to music together. He was the best!
Why did you want to be a part of this public art project?
I have recently joined the art community at The Norwood Space Center and learned about GuitARTS there. I think it’s extremely important to promote art and music in schools, especially for young adults. I am happy to be a part of helping that, even if it is a small contribution.
What does music mean to you?
Music is my all time favorite form of art. Songs are like short stories that can evoke a series of emotions across the board.
