
Lowell High School Sends Update to MDU!
Music Drives Us received a heartwarming letter of appreciation from Lowell High School, one of our 2017 Grant Recipients! During the last grant cycle, Debra Caverly, a member of the Lowell High School Choral Arts Parent Group, applied for a grant to support the school’s Choral Arts program that was in need of new instruments & equipment for their pit band and risers for their show choir.

ArtWeek 2018 Recap
This year’s ArtWeek was one to remember! During the 10-day innovative festival, there were more than 530 events in 155 neighborhoods and towns across the Commonwealth. ArtWeek offers unique and creative experiences that are hands-on, interactive, or offers behind-the-scenes access to artists or the creative process. With 12 different genres of art and culture to choose from, there was an event for everyone. All of the events were cost effective, and many were free!

Music Drives Us is excited to announce that we will be the charitable beneficiary of South Shore Country Festival 2018! For every ticket sold, $1 will be donated to our foundation. These proceeds will support our mission to keep music in our schools.

MDU Featured in The Boston Herald
Music Drives Us visited the House of Blues on April 25th to present Blues SchoolHouse with support for the next three years.

Get Involved in ArtWeek!
Presented by Highland Street Foundation and produced by the Boch Center, ArtWeek is an award-winning, 10-day innovative festival featuring hundreds of creative experiences offering ways to experience arts and culture. Born in Boston in 2013, ArtWeek expanded its footprint across the Commonwealth for the 2018 festival. The 2018 spring festival is April 27 - May 6.

Winner of Teachers Who Inspire Contest
The votes are in, and the winner of the Music Teachers Who Inspire Contest has been announced! A big congratulations to Mark Todd of Holyoke High School! The Holyoke community expressed how much this music teacher inspires them, and it was great to read stories of praise under his nomination photo.

MDU Visits the Mary Lyon!
On Tuesday March 6, Music Drives Us visited the Mary Lyon Pilot High School in Brighton, MA to witness the music club perform with their new instruments and equipment. The school wrote to Music Drives Us in need of instruments and equipment for their expanding music club. Music Drives Us provided their club with: electric guitars, bass guitars, amps, brand new cymbals and hardware, microphones, keyboards and a drum kit. Before the donation from Music Drives Us, the students were utilizing the staff’s personal gear for the past five years.

Our Visit to Horizons for Homeless Children!
On Tuesday February 6, Music Drives Us presented Horizons for Homeless Children in Roxbury, MA a $10,000 grant for their Young Audiences of Massachusetts (YAMA) residency program. The program, Expanding Horizons Through Music, is a literacy-through-music residency in which artists from YAMA lead interactive music sessions for the children at Horizons for Homeless Children. YAMA is a non-profit with a mission to educate, inspire, and empower the youth of Massachusetts through the arts.
